These are Links to the Tools & Materials that I use on a regular basis.  But please feel free to use any tools that are most useful to you with your work. When you are working, it is best to work with ease and convenience, this will help you create a better figure.  With regard to Fondant and Modeling Paste, you can use any brand that you are comfortable with, just be aware that each brand has it's own characteristics and texture, etc. and you may need to finesse the fondant in certain ways to get the results that you would like, i.e. adding Tylose (CMC) if your fondant is too soft or adding a little bit of water if the fondant is too dry. ( a brief moment in the microwave will also really soften the fondant, but the fondant will eventually get very stiff and hard once it cools again)

Personally, I love working with very stretchy fondant for my figures.

So I recommend the following fondants that all have a good degree of stretchy elasticity:  

                 - Saracino Modeling Paste 

                 - Renshaw Americas Fondant

                 - a 1:1 Combination of Renshaw Americas & Saracino Modeling Paste

                 - Renshaw Extra 

                 - Massa Ticino Tropic

Satin Ice Fondant has a fast drying surface, so add Tylose (CMC). The amount of Tylose you add deepens on the part the figure you are working on - i.e. you would add more

Tylose for the Legs than you would for the face.  Vegetable Shortening on the surface of the fondant can also slow the drying speed, but you may find that the fondant

is too slippery to adhere to the figure.
